// ..and it has been a while

what has? the gedikness feeling. bwahahaha!

called one of my best male fren the other day n suddenly he asked me, if his fren was to sing a japanese song, would i understand? so i said maybe.
so he pass the cell to the guy, n there goes a japanese song which i don't know of. but his voice was good, i said to myself. i asked my fren who that guy was, and he said something bout the 'gangstarz' show in msia, which, for me who lives in japan n obviously not updated, will have no knowledge of. so i was like, whateva.

then, the guy sang another japanese song coz i never heard of the 1st one (sorry!). and hey, this time, i know that song he sang -- hitori by the gospellers. but i was kinda hippie at the fact that someone sang to me on the phone. haha gedik. the last time anyone ever done that for me, i guess was back in UM, when my deskmate, also male, called me during my bday n played a guitar while singing the only song that everybody in the whole wide world knows. ahhhh~

oh, then, the guy spoke a few japanese with me -- u know, the ones that u cud catch by watching japanese drama; "moshi2" and "watashiwa (ur name) desu". so yea, me, being frozen coz didn't see that one coming (ya la, someone whom just sang to u on the phone n u went melting all the way, tried to make a conversation.. malu lah! :">), replied with an "ohhh". stoopid. and my fren, being so selamber as he always is, leh tak nk promote2 his fren to me?? citt. blushing weyhh!! haha gatal kan?

so anyways, this is the one who was rajin enuff to sing to me that night -- the one in the middle. thanks anyway, ajam! (:

n to mirul, i know u always try to make me smile esp. since that "thing". i'm thankful for a good fren like u. i appreciate it very much. thanks. mwa mwa.

// ouch.. that hurts!

finally.. the graduation day for some of the kadaians last friday! n the day that a new kadaian will be born. hehe. after both pokko n maikel got their certificate, they picked me up to go to the airport to fetch the new junior this year. of all the people leaving, only ONE junior's coming? geez, talking bout extinction here! lol.

7 kadaians went together to the airport in 2 cars. n like most of the times, i was the only gal, thanks but no thanks. oh yea.. 2 cars?? are u kidding me?? just one junior, O-N-E, n 2 cars were there to fetch him (kalah artis, you!). last time there were 4 of us, but only a car n 2 seniors came. not to sound annoyed or anything, but it would be nice if the "warmness" was like consistent all these years; and, the one who gets all the warm welcome is not kerek the 1st day they arrived. (u better make sure none of the seniors say that u r a cocky junior again after this!)

well, arrived at the hostel, the junior settles in, n we, i mean the guys, were prepared to go futsal-ing. went back to change to a proper attire for running around the 'fake' field, as they asked me to join them (note: usually, 'join them' means 'watch them play' to the girls). but it turned out, they asked me to join as in really join the team. play together. i was like, are u serious? without much warming up, we started kicking the ball (nice move).

i realized i need to higher up my stamina after this coz i was like gasping for air while running up n down the court, literally. n they wont even let me to have a time-out! sob sob. suddenly, while i was playing defense (not really defense, more like screaming everytime the ball came towards me), one of the guys kicked the ball so hard n went straight to me, who pretended to be like a man, n was so stupid to use my body to stop the ball (while the other real, not-pretending-to-be-guys guys said they, themselves weren't brave enuff to stop the ball at that moment), so it hit right at my right kidney spot with a growl that came out of my mouth! like "awwwouuchhhhhhhroarrrrrrrrr". hahaha! so then they asked me to just stay put at the striker 'port' and guess what? i did score a few goals! *curtsies*

the 'gol & gincu' game finished after an hour, then we continued with a battle of billiards, with 3 person per group, just coz we didn't have money to play 2 per table. hehe. well, well, well... my group won all 3 'sets'. guess most guys lost their 'balls' that night, huh? bwahahaha! kidding.

fun time's over, now it's dine time! went to the usual place for them (coz the no-money-me don't get to come to italian restaurant that often), fracasso, n burst our stomach out with all those italian foods. n ohh, the rest of the msians joined the futsal-ers during dinner here. so we had the so-called skema introduction from the new junior n that's pretty much it. went home, change to another clothes, n went back to the boys' house to play... monopoly! (it came back down to 6 people). n hell, this is one messed-up, no-rule monopoly that we played! at first, it was by the rules, until one had no money left n we started to make our own rules, n ended with 4-against-2 kinda way. like we made our own 'company' n if one employee needs the money to pay the opponent (of 2), the 'boss' will settle it since we had to give our money n our lands to the 'boss' (we practically didn't have any money left so we had to give the lands rather than being bankrupt. haha). silly rules, eh? tell me bout it. what a night! hehe. but i know we all had lots of fun. n we learned a lesson -- money is scary, man! lol.

i woke up the next day with a cold n had to asked melissa to go to work instead while i was supposed to replace her in the first place. heh. sorry for that, melissa! but it was pretty much gloomy coz it was raining the whole time. hate it. hate it. just can't wait for the cherry blossoms to bloom! woohoo~! and ohh, i woke up with an ache all over my body yesterday, thanks to the no-warming-up-before-futsal thing. went to the band's live's sorta-after-party walking like a cripple. heh. but on the bright side, they paid for me (thankies!) n i get to eat a lot that night. like a week's stock kinda lot. :D

oh yea, again, went to the airport the 2nd time this week on the day we sent a family of 3 back home to m
sia (we made a "drama" this day as we were late to send them, n were speeding, n shouting, n panicking allllll the way to the airport, n they were actually in the security gate when we arrived, and, they came back out just to shake hands, hug n all the things u do when u say goodbyes. hey, it sounds like a drama scene to us. hehe.), n 2 who will further studies to university in toyahashi (from kagoshima institution, if that's what kousen is called in english). it hit me that day, that people are really leaving, n it's gonna change a lot for me this year. i hate this kinda change. now not only my body aches, but my heart will too.. *tears*

but.. we treat ourselves with a leg-hot-spring outside the airport afterwards! (:

// rest in peace.. NOT!

ever watch a scary movie that's not scary at all?? been in an eerie house but u didn't feel any goosebumps? anyways, here's one that doesn't sounds that scary, as a matter of fact, it is not a scary movie at all, but sure is weird and scary to me (well, kinda...).

once upon a time (i really need to work out for the story opening, huh? hehe.).. ok fine, few months back, there's this one time i need to copy something from a cd that i burned. so u know that we need to rip it to the computer first, right? so, because it's called ripping, i put all the songs that i ripped from the cd to a new folder that i named as 'rip'. and bla.. bla.. bla.. long story short, i've done whatever i need to do to the songs and don't need 'em anymore so i deleted them. along with the 'rip' folder, of course. but the next day, when i opened my computer, i saw the same folder at my desktop. at 1st, i thought i mistakenly think that i've deleted the 'rip' folder, but when i've repeated the thing like over n over n over again, now i'm 120% sure that i've really deleted it n it keeps coming back! meaning, i can't really delete it!! i've tried so many ways, e.g. rename it n then delete, but it will still reappear. not with the name that i've changed before i deleted it, but with the same 'rip'. scary or what?!!

then i thought there must be something wrong with my computer, so i just left the folder on my computer for a few months, n few days ago i just remembered bout the folder thing, so i tried to get rid of it, again.. but, like any other efforts that i've made for the last few months, i finally came to one conclusion -- it's useless!! n it still scares me tho. in its own freaky way. sheesh!

p/s: it will be so much comforting if someone knows a logical reason to this case. heh.

// sayonara

march.. it is said that this is a very "lonely" or "gloomy" season in japan. season's changing, and so are the people around. old ones leaving, and new ones coming. hence, the farewell parties that u feel u have no time to attend them all, or maybe no more tears to drop. but this year, thanks to the global warming, these parties are celebrated in a cold weather. the top of mount sakurajima still has dusts of snow, cherry blossoms are not only un-bloom, but the buds are nowhere to be seen! so much for spring, huh? gimme the real spring please!!

anyways, yesterday was one of my japanese fren's farewell. she's going to canada next week to study english for a year. may i say, she really worked her ass off to save her salary all these 5 years (i think) n finally has enuff money to study abroad. we r so proud of her. as usual, the kusa-no-hana-family were there to give her one last goodbye.

yasue and sayuri came wearing a kimono esp. for Mai. n me, looking like a pregnant lady. cheh.

hisano, sawane n ken at the back.

the ladies of the house. teehee.

some of the kusa-no-hana family. n Mai is the one wearing a purple scarf.

one of the usuals when coming to kusa no hana -- latin dancing!

and.. as always.. partner in crime, melissa :p

went back at 2 coz it was damn cold n i had a bad flu! anyway, to Mai, ganbatte ne!!

// money matters ($_$)

first of all, (in sarcasm) "great job, amy!" for spending ur english-teaching-job salary that u'd just received in A DAY! (well, to be exact, in a few hours!!) get this -- 4000 yen is what's left out of 19000 yen (approx. RM570)! gosh, i'm really really bad when it comes to saving money. hence, the always-no-cash problems. sigh.

i got my salary yesterday n went straight to tenmonkan (which is like the main shopping place here in kagoshima). at 1st i thought i'll just wonder around and window shop since i just wanted to kill some time. yea, right. with cash in hand, and things.. just not-so-important-but-still-want-to-buy things.. made me lose it. excuses, i know. lol.

hmm.. where did it all go? here: unneeded accessories, unneeded-but-what-if-other-people-will-buy clothes, unneeded-n-dunno-where-to-wear-it-to-but-it-looks-cool shoes, to sum it up, practically just unneeded things!! (but u have to admit, as a girl, and a shopaholic, we do need those! heh heh.)

so now, i'm back to the no-good-food-to-eat and no-coming-down-to-the-convenience-store-in-the-middle-of-the-night me! cheh. money is so scary, man! :p

btw, i couldn't take the french class (or any other language classes for that matter -- even english) coz when i was about to register my subjects few hours ago, it turned out the classes that i wanted to take had urmm.. gone. vanished. dunno-what-exactly-happened nada. even the PE class was nowhere to be found. sob sob. guess i have to study hard for the engineering subjects to repair my GPA (well, good luck with that!). huwaaaaaaaaaa~!!

on other subject, melissa has been discharged from the hospital today. so now that she's discharged, i'm back to looking for a "not-foreigner-frenly" job. (T_T) coz hey, i won't be able to spend 15000 yen in a day next time if i don't have a job, right?? hahaha.

Study links sense of humor, survival
By Marilyn Elias, USA TODAY Wed Mar 14, 6:54 AM ET
BUDAPEST, Hungary - Laugh and the world laughs with you. Even better, you might live longer, a Norwegian researcher reports.

Adults who have a sense of humor outlive those who don't find life funny, and the survival edge is particularly large for people with cancer, says Sven Svebak of the medical school at Norwegian University of Science and Technology.

He released his study of about 54,000 Norwegians, tracked for seven years, at the American Psychosomatic Society meeting here.

At the start, patients filled out questionnaires on how easily they found humor in real-life situations and how important a humorous perspective was.

The greater a role humor played in their lives, the greater their chances of surviving the seven years, Svebak says. Adults who scored in the top one-quarter for humor appreciation were 35% more likely to be alive than those in the bottom quarter, he says.

In a subgroup of 2,015 who had a cancer diagnosis at the start, a great sense of humor cut someone's chances of death by about 70% compared with adults with a poor sense of humor, Svebak says.

// same old.. same old..

i have a band practice today coz the live is tmrw n we didn't have enuff practice. damn! i'm gonna miss the final episode of 'hana yori dango'! Rui, forgive me!! *cries* God, sometimes i swear, that the band's giving me this pressure that just makes we wanna blow up like the sakurajima volcano! *kaboom!* (ok, i'm exaggerating). i mean, like, we usually play the same songs over n over again, n there's just like one, or two new songs each performance. meaning, every time we have a live performance to do, we don't need to practice all the songs, right? i mean, yea, of course we do, but aren't we supposed to focus on the new songs instead?! coz supposedly, the old ones are the ones that we've actually master n just need to brush it up once in a while.. am i not right? but, what frustrates me is how they keep practicing ALL the songs until we don't have enuff time to focus on what we supposed to be focusing on -- the new song(s)!! (i'm just overly mad coz they made me missed my fav tv show! and it's the last episode! grrr..)

anyway, my fren, melissa, is admitted to the hospital this week regarding her tooth surgery, so i have to cover her up for her english classes, which is tmrw, sunday, n next saturday. i guess it's ok coz i kinda need some extra money now. wait, who am i kidding? not kinda, but really! i really need extra money (the "extra" need to be cut off since i don't have any money now). i've been going to these part-time job interviews but keep getting no for an answer, which is something i don't wanna hear, in case u r asking (which i know u don't). most of it is bcoz i'm a foreigner. i just don't get it, u know? what do they have against foreigners, anyway? geez.

n urmm.. i've been thinking to do something with my hair. heh heh. *grins* but i just don't know yet. we'll see.. melissa, get out from the hospital quick!!

// not-so-white White Day

well, if u r in japan, then u know that yesterday, 14th March was the White Day. i personally don't know where the hell it came from, but here, White Days are supposed to be for men to "answer" the girls who gave them chocolates during Valentine's (yea, here, the girls are the one who supposed to give chocolates to the guys they like on Val. no fun eh, girls?). so, went to kusa no hana coz we are clb8-ing yoko-san's 50th bday which is today, but since the cafe is closed every Thurs, we've decided to come by on the 14th instead.
anyways, there's this one guy from the kusa-no-hana-family as well, whom we call Masaninii (bro Masani), he's a med student here in kagoshima U, but now, he's in Cuba for some err.. i'm not really sure, but something bout his research, i guess, bout Mother Theresa. but to our surprise, he had prepared all these gifts for all the girls in kusa-no-hana-family to be sent exactly on the 14th b4 he went to Cuba. (i know, right? like, O-M-G!!) it's a cute, small stuffed toy which made us, the girls, quickly turned into this immature-spoiled-brat who's playing with their doll. hahahaha! we were so touched that that kind of guy actually exists in this world! lol.

i named mine as mocochin! (pronounced as moko-chin)

the other girls' "pet" together with mine. aren't they just ohsocute..??

btw, went home at 4 in the morning after had so many cakes (well, actually, just 2 choc cakes), n ohh, 1 of them was hand-made by ehem!.. ME!! *pats self* i made the well-known-in-malaysia batik cake. teehee.
n this time, thankfully it actually looks like a cake -- since the first attempt few years back was not so.. cake-like. (aww~ am i proud of myself or what?!) i nearly fell asleep (well, not that i never slept there :p) coz i was so tired since i woke up at 7 in the morning, believe it or not, n went to the immigration to renew my visa at 9. well, actually it's 10 coz i had this ridiculous idea that i need to exercise n lose some weight esp. at the stomach n thighs' part, so, me, being the lazy-ass as u know, figured since i'm so lazy to even do the normal, simple work-out, the only thing i actually can do is walking. so yea, i walked all the way to the immigration office in town from my house, which is like 45 minutes, and a bad baddd leg pain. huhuhu. and i went home by the tram. keh keh.

on some other crazy thought, the registration for the new semester will be on this coming monday n since i need to higher-up my GPA due to the bad results last semester which clearly pulls down a hell lot of my credits, i was thinking, hey, why not take classes like, say... french?? hahaha. well, actually i want to take spanish lessons but somehow there's no spanish class at this U, unfortunately, so there's chinese, korean, german, and french. hmmm.. is it a good idea to even take one of these lessons just to have at least 2.50 GPA?? i'm screwed, aren't i? oh someone, help~!

// once.upon.a.dream....

gosh, this sleeping cycle really gives me headaches!! sometimes i sleep at night, sometimes in the morning, sometimes for only 5 hours, OR sometimes, for a hell lot more than 12!! but hey, the good thing is, i had a dream bout James Lafferty last night. bwahahahahahahahhaha! and.. most of the OTH cast were there too. i mean, in my dream, obviously. Lucas, Brooke, Mouth, and, surprisingly, the OC's Seth's grandpa n some random japanese chic. lol.

well, i don't remember the exact story-line, but somehow we have to write down whom we gonna marry. so i wrote James, like that wud surprise u. Luke n Brooke chose each other, coz Peyton wasn't in my dream. n so does Haley. (maybe i was supposed to be Haley in my dream? hehe. i dunno.) anyways, the not-so-good part was that James had this "issues" and didn't want to get married (bummer!). i was so devastated, so i turned to Seth's grandpa (sorry i forgot his name) for advice (at this point, that random Japanese chic just came in n out n interrupt our conversation with these questions -- well, u know.. extras. haha.). but didn't remember what he had said tho. i guess it wasn't a good one since i went to see Mouth soon after that. u know how Mouth always been the good-fren-part in the story. but, i didn't remember what Mouth told me either. (hahaha. such a loser in remembering my own dreams. whatever.) but then, me n James aka Nathan had a fight but it ended soon coz i woke up at the ring of my cell. cheh.

lesson of the story: don't watch TOO much tv. hahahahaha!

p/s: if some say ayeshaness's blog is jiwang, well, people say that my blog is emo. hehe. whatever. i AM emo. lol.

// color ur life

Tickle newsletter keeps giving me these tests to take.. so.. here's another one. quite interesting i think.

The Color Test

How Your Choice in Colors Can Predict Your Mood

Aimy, the first color you chose reveals that you're feeling Intuitive today.

For centuries, colors have been known for their energizing, calming and empowering qualities. In schools of psychology, a leading color theory suggests that your color preferences can also indicate what's on your subconscious mind. From your choices, here's what we found out about you. Like other people who choose Violet first, you might pick up on things before they're evident to others. The fact that you chose Violet first also indicates that others probably trust your perceptions and rely on your great instincts.

How rare is this color choice? 20% test takers also chose Violet first, but less than 0.10% of test-takers share your exact 8-color sequence.

Aimy, the first color you chose was

This insightful color personality test, developed by color psychologist Max Luscher, reveals detailed information about your unconscious mind based on the order of your color selections. Luscher's research revealed that the order in which you selected a series of colors is significant. In fact, not only was he able to determine that the order was relevant, but he revealed that particular aspects of your life could be represented by specific color choices. This goes beyond what colors you like the most. Luscher made a connection between color preferences and how they related to your subconscious mind. There is a meaning behind your single color choices, as well as your color pairs. This report will provide detailed info on both. We'll begin with the first color you chose.

Your Leading Color

The color you choose first symbolizes the methods you use to achieve your hopes, dreams and greatest goals. This is the color you're most drawn to, which indicates that you're turning toward the qualities this color evokes. It may be you want to incorporate more of what the color symbolizes into your life, or that it's a reflection of your current mental state.

Violet. This reveals that overall, you're Intuitive. Like other people who choose Violet first, you likely sense things before they're evident to others. Others probably trust your perceptions and rely on your great instincts.

According to Luscher, Violet in the first position also reveals that you have a desire to get the approval of others based on your charm. You want to cast a magical spell on others with your delightful ways. Violet in this position also indicates that you are a sensitive and appreciative person, though you don't want to be tied down by excessive relationship responsibilities. You have a need to feel identification with others, to understand and be understood.

20% test takers also chose Violet first.

This is the color of your personality. Of all test takers, only less than 0.10% have the same exact combination as you. According to Luscher, each of your selections reveals something particular to your personality. The following section will reveal what Luscher believes each color selection reveals about your true self.

Luscher believed that each color has a particular psychological meaning and physiological impact. Unlike words, he believed that colors have universal meaning. This means that no matter your age, race, gender, national identity, educational or socioeconomic level, or personality quirks, colors carry the same natural associations.

Following is some more detailed information about each of the eight colors. Below are Luscher's findings on which positions are most common for that color. You can apply all of this to the information in order to enhance your understanding of your unique color spectrum.

Violet

As a combination of both blue and red, violet manages to be its own distinct color, though it does lose the clarity and purpose that both red and blue have on their own. Violet is the magical union of red's need to conquer and blue's need to surrender. It is intuition and sensitivity. Violet is also about wish fulfillment and fantasy, a state in which the world is a magical place. Violet, due to its fantastical nature, can sometimes lead to irresponsibility. Tickle found that Violet is the second most commonly chosen color for the first position, second only to blue.

Red

The red on this test, which contains enough yellow to give it an orange hue, is the expression of vital force. Red speeds up one's pulse, respiration, and blood pressure. It represents desire, appetites and cravings. It symbolizes the desire to achieve and a need to "do." Red is the present, and it represents all forms of power, from sexuality to innovative change. It is the blood of conquest and the flame igniting the human spirit. According to Tickle's studies, it is somewhat uncommon for Red to be chosen in the last three positions.

Black

Black is the dark negation of color. It expresses the idea of nothingness, endings and extinction. Black is about surrender and relinquishing. It has great impact on the color with which it's paired, emphasizing the impact of that color. Choosing black in the early positions is an act of extremeness and rebellion, a sign of revolt. When black is chosen last, Luscher believed it is a sign of not wanting to relinquish anything, and instead be in control of your own fate. Tickle found that, more than any other color, Black is chosen equally for each of the eight positions, with a slight tendency to be chosen in the last four positions.

Blue

The dark blue color in this test symbolizes the calm of an untroubled sea. It represents fulfillment, as well as truth, love and devotion. It relates to tender emotions and sensitivity. Studies have found that when people look at this color, their respiration and blood pressure are reduced. Dark blue corresponds with the basic biological need for tranquility and contentment. According to Tickle's research, Blue is most commonly chosen in positions one through four, especially in the first two positions. It is the most popular choice for the first position.

Yellow

Yellow, the brightest color on the test, represents lightness and good cheer. Yellow is radiance, expansiveness, and a release from burdens. Symbolically, yellow is the warm sunlight. Yellow is more uncertain than red; while it indicates flurried diligence, this focus comes in fits and starts. Yellow is progressive, always going toward the new and the developing. Tickle's findings revealed that it is somewhat uncommon for Yellow to be chosen in the first or second position.

Green

The blue-green color on this test represents perseverance, constancy and firmness. Green symbolizes the most resistant to change, the most self-awareness, the most self-possession. Emotionally, green is a sign of pride. Symbolically, it corresponds with the towering and austere sequoia, deep-rooted, unchanging, and monumental. Green is the color of precise memory, accuracy and logic. Tickle found that it's somewhat uncommon for Green to be chosen first or last, and that Green tends to be chosen toward the middle of the selection process.

Brown

This brown is a darkened yellow-red. Yellow dampens Red's vitality and thus makes it more peaceful. Brown's vitality is less active, and is instead more receptive than Red's. Brown is sensuous, relating to the physical body. It is also about the importance of roots, home and family. Tickle's research found that Brown is the most common color choice for the last position.

Gray

The shade of gray used on this test is neither dark nor light, and thus it is free of any specific psychological tendency. Gray symbolizes neutrality, the halfway point between white and black. This is the color of noninvolvement. It also represents the desire to hide or conceal. Tickle found that Gray is most commonly chosen in positions five through eight, especially in the last two positions.

While the first color you select reveals your unique approach to life, your second color indicates what you're actually trying to achieve with that approach. In the next section Your First Pairing, you'll learn how your first and second colors combine to reveal information about your current life direction. In following sections in this report, you'll learn about the significance of Your Second, Third and Fourth Pairings as well.

Your First Pairing: What You Want and How You Get It

The first two colors you selected make up your first pairing. According to Luscher, these are the colors that you're most drawn to. The order of your selections here are particularly significant. The first color you choose represents the method you rely on to achieve your goals. The second color represents what your actual goal is. As a pair, these first two colors signify your dreams and the methods you employ to make them a reality.

You chose Violet first and Red second. This means that you long to be perceived as exciting, interesting and influential. You're careful to avoid doing anything that might endanger your success or others' confidence in you. You're preoccupied with things that are intensely exciting, erotic or otherwise. Out of all test-takers, 3.52% select these two colors in the first and second positions.

Your Second Pairing: How You're Coping Now

The third and forth color you chose comprise your second pairing. Luscher believed that your second pairing represents your present set of circumstances and how you are responding to them.

Black/Blue is your second pairing. In relation to what's going on in your life, you long for warm companionship. What you feel you need is special consideration from loved ones. When you don't receive this kind of attention, you tend to shut yourself off. Among others who take this test, 1.76% chose this color combination in the third and forth positions.

Your Third Pairing: What You Have in Reserve

Your third pairing is based on the fifth and sixth colors you picked. Luscher believed these are the colors you're indifferent to; you neither prefer them nor reject them. The colors in this pairing represent the behaviors that you're repressing. It's also possible you may not be choosing them because you feel they'd be inappropriate. Once your situation changes, you could draw on these behaviors as you see fit.

Your third pairing is Yellow/Green. According to Luscher's theories, this indicates that you're holding back because you feel like you have more than your fair share of difficulties. Still you manage to cope with these burdens by being flexible and accommodating. 2.78% of test takers share this combination for the fifth and sixth positions.

Your Fourth Pairing: What You're Rejecting

The final two colors you selected make up your highly significant fourth pairing. According to Luscher's theories, these are the colors you are rejecting, which means you're turning away from the qualities they represent. These colors represent a need that you're repressing due to your life situation. Luscher believed that the colors you like the least reveal the most about you.

Brown/Gray is your fourth and final pairing. This means you're unsatisfied with life and you feel that all of your goals and hopes must be completely fulfilled. The uncertainties in your life make you watchful of opportunities so you don't miss out on anything. You need security and you're anxious to avoid any further setbacks. Among other test-takers, 1.98% share this color combination in the seventh and eighth positions.

This means you're suppressing your sensuality, which restricts your ability to be giving. You long to surrender to someone, but you feel that this impulse is weak and must be overcome. You long to achieve a higher status and the esteem of allies who share your high standards, but instead you feel isolated. You need recognition and attention from others. Among other test-takers, 7.83% share this color combination in the seventh and eighth positions.

German psychologist Max Luscher first presented his color test at an international conference in 1947, and he continued to study and perfect it for decades. This test was used in Europe by psychologists and physicians. Dr. Luscher personally used his methods to help companies, including the pharmaceutical company Parke-Davis and the car manufacturer Volkswagen, make decisions about product packaging and advertising.

According to Luscher, when colors are chosen for a specific purpose, such as an item of clothing or wall color, the colors are selected for several different reasons, psychological preference, physiological need, and esthetic considerations. In this test, where colors are presented without association to each other or specific objects, he believes that esthetic considerations are subverted, leaving you with a more accurate gauge of the psychological and physiological preferences.

Luscher developed two versions of his test. The "full" test is comprised of several different color panels and requires forty-three selections by the test taker. Because the interpretation of this test is incredibly intricate and requires intensive professional training, Luscher also developed the Eight-Color Panel Test, also known as the Short Luscher Test. While obviously not as extensive, Luscher found that the Eight-Color Panel Test provided a good deal of psychological and physiological information about the test taker. More accessible, this shorter test was used widely in Europe by employers, psychologists, physicians, and schools.

Tickle researched many of Luscher's claims in a survey of over 4,000 participants. In several cases, Tickle found that Luscher's theories had statistical validity. Following are a few of the correlations that Tickle was able to validate though research:

  • Pair 1: People who chose green first and red second tend to get a rush from overcoming obstacles.
  • Pair 2: People who chose green third and red fourth tend to be in positions of authority.
  • Pair 3: People who chose red fifth and gray sixth hold back in life to avoid conflict.
  • Pair 4: People who chose blue seventh and black last tend to suppress their feelings of vulnerability
